Description

Humanistic Jewish Congregation in Fairfield County, Connecticut seeks creative, self-starting, organized part-time Program Designer to work together with volunteers and committees to plan and run in-person and hybrid programs including cultural events, speakers and community gatherings for CHJ members and the Fairfield County Jewish community. We seek to add capacity so we can do more for CHJ members, while also reaching those interested in humanistic Judaism.

Position Title: Program Designer, Part-time

Position Summary:

The Program Designer develops, coordinates, and executes in-person and hybrid cultural, educational, and social programs that enrich the lives of CHJ members and introduce the broader Jewish community to CHJ. The role is collaborative; the Program Designer works with CHJ volunteers and committees. A Board-designated liaison and an alternate provide onboarding, mentoring, and assistance in consultation with CHJ officers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Program Development: plan and schedule a regular calendar of programs and events, including light refreshments for in-person programs.
  • Volunteer Collaboration: partner with CHJ committees, chairs, and officers to involve members in planning and delivering programs.
  • Logistics management:select venues, arrange set-up and technical support for each program
  • Program Promotion:design flyers and publicize events via the CHJ newsletter, website, Federation website and newsletter, and community outreach channels.
  • Evaluation:gather feedback after each program to track engagement and inform future planning.

Qualifications

  • Experience in event planning, community organizing, program coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable collaborating with volunteers.
  • Ability to manage several events and timelines concurrently.
  • Familiarity with, or genuine respect for, secular Humanistic Judaism and Jewish cultural traditions.
  • Ability to design program flyers using programs such as Microsoft Publisher and other programs.
  • Familiar with audio-visual presentations, livestreaming, Zoom and YouTube or the equivalent.
  • Able to attend in-person events in Fairfield County; remote work for planning/admin tasks.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Part-time, approximately 10 hours/week on average; flexible, remote hours for planning and administrative work, plus required attendance at scheduled events.
  • Compensation: $30-34/hr.
  • Term: One-year position with review before renewal.
  • Reports to: designated CHJ Board liaison and alternate, in consultation with CHJ Officers and Finance Committee.
