The Astoria Center of Israel is growing—and we’re looking for you!

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and engaging Hebrew School teacher to join our warm, collaborative team for our Tuesday afternoon program for the 2026-2027 September-June year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and follow their own lesson plans that align with the school’s educational goals and Jewish values. Hebrew, Ritual/Culture, Music, Holiday.
  • Create and deliver engaging lessons that cater to various age groups and skill levels, ensuring all students have the opportunity to express themselves creatively.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to explore their artistic abilities.
  • Utilize a range of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and Education Director to integrate art and music into the broader educational experience.
  • Organize and participate in school events, performances, and exhibitions to showcase students’ work and talents.
  • Maintain an organized and inspiring classroom space that reflects the creativity and energy of the students.

Ideal candidates will have:
  • A working knowledge of Hebrew (reading, writing, and vocabulary). Fluency is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, customs, traditions, and history.
  • Experience teaching in a Hebrew school, Jewish camp, or youth group setting (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for making learning come alive through crafts, music, and movement. Ability to play an instrument is a plus!
  • Any experience with children with different learning abilities would be wonderful to highlight in your application.
