Camp Ramah in Canada is a premier Jewish overnight camp located on beautiful Skeleton Lake in Muskoka, Ontario. For over 65 years, Ramah has been a place where campers of all abilities grow, learn, and experience the joy of Jewish community in a warm and inclusive environment.
Our Tikvah Program supports campers with disabilities and diverse learning needs, ensuring that everyone is valued, included, and able to fully participate in camp life — from swimming and sports to Shabbat celebrations and cabin life.
Position Overview
Camp Ramah in Canada is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Tikvah Director to lead our inclusion program year-round and onsite during the summer. The Tikvah Director plays a key role in ensuring that campers with disabilities are fully supported, understood, and included in all aspects of camp life.
Year-Round Responsibilities (September–June)
Partner with the Camp Co-Directors to review camper applications and identify inclusion needs.
Communicate with families to understand camper strengths, needs, and goals.
Develop camper support plans and oversee implementation and parent communication.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training members of the Tikvah staff team.
Contribute to pre-camp and in-camp staff training sessions; prepare resources and materials for summer.
Summer Responsibilities (June–August)
Provide daily and ongoing support for Tikvah campers; develop and implement individualized support plans.
Supervise, mentor, and guide Tikvah staff, addressing challenges and supporting their success.
Communicate regularly with parents to share updates and collaborate on strategies for camper growth.
Offer ongoing support to staff across camp who may require guidance; develop individualized strategies to be implemented by supervisors.
Work closely with the Summer Leadership Team — including the Camp Co-Directors, Rashei Eidot (unit heads), Yoatzot (parent liaisons), medical team, specialists, and program staff — to ensure inclusive practices camp-wide.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, psychology, child development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience working with children with disabilities in educational, therapeutic, or recreational settings.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve in real time.
Maturity, professionalism, and discretion in managing sensitive camper needs and maintaining confidentiality.
Flexibility, creativity, and a strong team-oriented mindset.
Compensation
$8,000 - $10,000 for summer employment
$2,500 for pre-summer year-round work
