Located in the western portion of Clark County in beautiful Summerlin, Nevada, our synagogue is part of one of the nation’s premier master-planned communities, nestled in the foothills of the breathtaking Spring Mountains. Our growing and dynamic synagogue has been an integral part of the community since its founding in May 2007 and offers a vibrant, welcoming environment for Jewish life, worship, education, and community engagement.
Congregation & Campus Highlights
- Approximately 400 member families
- 280-seat sanctuary with expandable seating capacity up to 900
- Six administrative offices
- Social hall, library, youth lounge, and chapel
- On-site preschool serving approximately 400 students
- Religious School enrollment of approximately 70 students
- Annual operating budget of $2.5 million
- Approximately 75% of the operating budget is supported through member dues
Executive Director
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Executive Director to provide leadership for the synagogue’s day-to-day operations and administrative functions. The Executive Director reports directly to the President of the Board of Trustees and partners with clergy, lay leadership, staff, volunteers, and congregants to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, strong member engagement, and seamless coordination of programs, facilities, and organizational systems.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, anticipates needs, troubleshoots challenges independently, and collaborates effectively in a small-team environment. This role requires excellent organizational and relationship-building skills, professionalism, warmth, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, community-centered setting.
As a collaborative, community-centered organization with a small office, all team members are expected to step in and support one another as needed. The Executive Director should be flexible, hands-on, and willing to assist across a variety of operational and administrative areas to help ensure the synagogue's overall success and the success of its programs.
Key Responsibilities
Operations, Facilities & Administration
- Oversee daily office operations and administrative systems to ensure organizational efficiency and consistency
- Manage operations and facilities, including vendor coordination, maintenance requests, office systems, and space scheduling
- Coordinate schedules, calendars, meetings, and organizational communications
- Maintain organized digital and physical records, files, and operational procedures
- Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and operational workflows
- Ensure a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, members, and visitors
- Coordinate office supplies, vendors, service providers, and facility-related needs
Staff Support, HR Oversight & Board Relations
- Provide leadership and administrative support to clergy, staff, committees, and volunteers
- Assist with onboarding, staff support, scheduling, and human resources coordination
- Support Board relations through meeting coordination, documentation, follow-up, and administrative assistance
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and service-oriented team environment
- Supervise and support administrative staff through coaching, development, and performance management.
Membership Engagement & Communications
- Maintain accurate membership and constituent databases
- Respond professionally and warmly to inquiries from members, visitors, and community partners
- Support outreach, engagement, and retention efforts
- Coordinate communications and logistics for community events and programs
Budgeting & Financial Administration
- Support budgeting and financial management processes
- Assist leadership with financial reporting, operational documentation, and administrative oversight
- Monitor operational expenses and assist with maintaining financial accountability
Program & Event Coordination
- Oversee planning and execution of programs, meetings, holiday events, and special projects
- Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, registration, setup, materials, communications, and follow-up
- Maintain master calendars and assist with organizational scheduling and coordination
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure successful program implementation
Security, Technology & Office Systems Oversight
- Oversee office systems, databases, Microsoft 365, and communication platforms
- Coordinate facility security procedures, emergency protocols, and vendor relationships
- Troubleshoot operational and technology-related issues as needed
Clergy Partnership
- Work collaboratively with clergy to align strategy, communications, fundraising, and congregational experience.
- Ensure administrative support for worship, lifecycle events, pastoral care, education, and communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience
- 7-10 years of administrative, operations, nonprofit, synagogue, membership, or office leadership experience
- Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and follow-through
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Canva required
- Experience with databases, CRM systems, website management, social media platforms, and ShulCloud synagogue management software preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends for events and programs

Compensation
Salary range is $90,000-130,000. The role includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, vision, and dental insurance, as well as generous PTO. Additional benefits include support for relocation expenses.
