Director of Marketing
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Summary
Congregation B'nai Israel is seeking a strategic, creative, and results-oriented Director of Marketing to lead the organization’s marketing and communications efforts. This role is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that elevate the congregation’s visibility, strengthen community engagement, support membership and donor growth, and advance organizational priorities across all departments and audiences.
The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative marketing leader with strong analytical capabilities, exceptional storytelling skills, and a proven ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management
- Develop and execute marketing plans for synagogue programs, community events, and major organizational initiatives, including fundraising campaigns such as the Rosenthal Speaker Series and Golf Tournament
- Help lead organizational marketing strategy, including campaign planning, messaging, branding, and audience engagement efforts
- Create and oversee promotional timelines and integrated communication plans for key events and initiatives
- Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and communications across synagogue departments and audiences
Content Creation & Communications
- Create and schedule communications for the Nadel Center for Early Childhood Education (NCECE), including school-wide communications and Parent Organization messaging
- Develop marketing materials and campaigns to support Religious School enrollment, programming, and special initiatives
- Oversee content creation across email, website, social media, print, and digital platforms
- Collaborate with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to support organizational goals through effective communications and storytelling
Digital Platforms & Website Management
- Manage and maintain the synagogue and preschool websites, ensuring content is current, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities
- Oversee the synagogue, Religious School, and preschool online event calendars through ShulCloud
- Support the organization’s digital presence through strategic use of online communication platforms and tools
Development & Community Engagement
- Partner with the Development Department to create marketing and promotional materials for fundraising campaigns and donor engagement initiatives
- Support efforts to increase community participation, engagement, and visibility through targeted outreach and marketing campaigns
- Foster strong collaboration across departments to support membership, programming, educational, and development goals
Analytics & Reporting
- Track campaign performance and marketing effectiveness across communication channels, preparing reports and insights for leadership and the Board of Trustees
- Use analytics and audience feedback to improve communication strategies and campaign effectiveness
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related
field
· Minimum of 5–7 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably within a nonprofit,
educational, or mission-driven organization
· Demonstrated success leading integrated marketing strategies and multi-channel campaigns
· Strong writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills
· Experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, social media, and digital communications
tools
· Familiarity with WordPress, ShulCloud, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite preferred
· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
· Collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with WordPress, ShulCloud, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and donor engagement best practices

- Availability for occasional evening and weekend meetings, programs, and events as needed
