The Museum of Jewish Heritage is seeking a Security Coordinator to oversee all onsite security posts in line with institutional operations and safety policies. Under the direction of the Security Manager, the Coordinator will handle the daily access control, patrol, and response efforts of the Museum’s contracted security.

Responsibilities

  • Under the Direction of the Security Manager, ensure all posts are covered in accordance with the contract, including setting up and scheduling the type and times of interior and exterior tours for review, and completing random post checks.
  • Assist the Security Manager in meeting and, as needed, updating SOP and overall departmental procedures, and running Evacuation and Emergency Planning as well as Security Training for outsourced security team and Museum staff.
  • Provide an accurate inventory of all security equipment (e.g. cameras, radios, etc.) and ensure they are in working order.
  • Ensure all personnel are properly trained and attired to perform in a professional manner.
  • Submit reports on individual incidents, taking corrective actions to ensure compliance with security mandates, and submit a summary report of daily activities to the Security Manager.
  • Manage the in/out mail system for the Museum.
  • Assist departments across the Museum to ensure they have adequate security coverage for rentals, programs and events.

Requirements

  • Three years of general security experience in a museum, cultural institution, or public facility.
  • Technical experience in operating a security console, metal detectors, and X-ray screening equipment.
  • Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organization, assist the public, direct vendors, and to calmly deescalate any challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings to support rentals, programs, and special events.

Position Details

  • Reports to: Security Manager
  • Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 with generous benefits
  • Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours a week, requiring evening and weekend hours
  • Location: This is an onsite position
