Mozaic Senior Life is seeking a Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help lead the organization through its next chapter of growth, transformation, and long-term sustainability. This is a rare opportunity to step into a mission-driven, high-performing organization at an inflection point - one that combines the heart of human services with the rigor of a complex, multi-business enterprise. With a $70M operating platform and $14M endowment, consistently high census, strong board engagement, a diversity and depth of services and programs, and a major Life Plan Community development underway in Stamford, Mozaic is evolving from a single-campus healthcare provider into a diversified, multi-site organization that increasingly blends healthcare, hospitality, and community-based services. The next CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping that evolution.

Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as a key partner to an engaged Board of Directors, the CFO will balance two equally critical mandates: operational excellence today, ensuring financial rigor, accuracy, and stability across a lean but high-performing finance organization, and strategic enablement for tomorrow, modernizing systems, strengthening infrastructure, and supporting growth, new campuses, and increasing complexity.

Mozaic Senior Life is a place where financial leadership is inseparable from human impact. The organization has thrived through challenge, earned the trust of its workforce, and built a platform ready for its next era. The incoming CFO will inherit a strong foundation - and the opportunity to shape what comes next.

Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

• Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team and a trusted strategic partner to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Management Team, providing clear, candid, and timely financial insight to support enterprise decision-making and building strong, credibility-based relationships.

• Learn the culture, values, and operating philosophy of Mozaic Senior Life through intentional engagement with key staff and stakeholders. Establish strong working relationships with Vice President peers and direct reports; clarify roles and collaboration norms across the organization.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team. Develop finance talent and succession strategies within the organization; assess team structure, skills, and capacity to support future growth.

Financial Stewardship & Core Operations

• Assume oversight of all accounting, budgeting, treasury, audit, tax, and financial reporting functions for Mozaic Senior Life. In particular, oversee programspecific financial and accounting priorities for the foundation (endowment, special purpose funds, campaigns/pledges for Vision 2031+ and 10 for 10, and planned giving), Mozaic at Home (actuarial accounting for the CCRC at Home program), and skilled nursing (Medicaid reimbursement for long-term care and Medicare reimbursement for short-term rehabilitation).

• Develop a deep understanding of Mozaic Senior Life’s long-term debt structure, including the recently refinanced Bridgeport obligations; foster an effective working relationship with Customers Bank and manage ongoing compliance and cash flow mechanics.

• Review and internalize the FY ’26 operating budget and year-to-date performance to prepare for leadership of the FY ’27 budget process, including wage planning, benefits strategy, and resource prioritization. Lead Mozaic Senior Life's annual audit and maintain strong, productive relationships with external auditors and advisors.

• Evaluate Mozaic Senior Life’s current finance infrastructure and lead the evolution to more scalable enterprise resource planning and reporting platforms as the organization grows in complexity and geographic footprint. Strengthen internal controls and reporting clarity while preserving the agility of a lean finance team.

Development & Pre-Opening Phase of Mozaic Concierge Living

• Learn the Stamford Life Plan Community business model and financial structure; develop a productive working relationship with Greenbrier Development, overseeing financial models, reporting, and governance interfaces.

• Assume stewardship of Stamford’s long-term debt structure, issued in April 2025; build strong relationships with HJ Sims and the bond trustee, and manage the monthly funding and compliance processes.

• Oversee resident contract accounting and cash flows for approximately 164 members, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and regulatory adherence.

Leadership & Launch of Mozaic Concierge Living

• Participate as a key stakeholder in the search and selection of the Stamford Executive Director (anticipated Summer 2026).

• Partner with the CEO, Executive Director, and Greenbrier to support the financial readiness and successful opening of the Stamford community (targeted Summer 2027).

• Help integrate hospitality-oriented financial thinking into Mozaic Senior Life’s traditionally healthcare-focused culture, supporting a smooth operational and cultural transition.

Strategic Outlook & Long-Term Impact of Mozaic Concierge Living

• Help guide Mozaic Senior Life from a historically resource-constrained mindset toward a future of disciplined investment, prioritization, and growth.

• Balance near-term operational rigor with longer-term strategic planning, capital allocation, and risk management across a multi-site enterprise.

• Position Mozaic Senior Life with the financial infrastructure, insight, and leadership capacity required to thrive over the next decade.

• Support other new business development, e.g. Middle Market Housing, PACE, etc.
