This role will develop interactive curricula geared towards youth by building instructional sessions for educators.
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
Moving Traditions emboldens Jewish youth to thrive through the pursuit of personal wellbeing (shleimut), caring relationships (hesed), and a Jewish and feminist vision of equity and justice (tzedek). Combining positive psychology with Jewish values, we partner with Jewish institutions across North America to engage Jewish teens, families, and communities. Since its founding in January 2005, Moving Traditions has championed impact-focused youth-serving programs at the intersection of gender, wellbeing, and Judaism. Our suite of programs includes Moving Traditions B-Mitzvah Family Education Program for preteens and parents; Teen Groups for teens as they self-identify, with Rosh Hodesh for girls, Shevet for boys, Tzelem for LGBTQ+ teens; the Kulam curriculum for Hebrew High School settings; the Kol Koleinu Teen Feminist Fellowship; and Kumi: An Anti-Oppression Teen Leadership Experience. Finally, through CultureShift, Moving Traditions trains professionals who work with Jewish teens at camp and elsewhere about how to create healthy culture around gender, boundaries, and consent, and more.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, write and pilot experiential curricula for educator led programs for pre-teens and teens in grades 5 -12.
- Use evaluation data from educators and participants about programmatic effectiveness and adjust curriculum based on their feedback.
- With guidance and support from senior staff, develop new curricular sessions in response to current events, new teen research, and/or requests from educators.
- When developing new curriculum sessions, collaborate with subject matter experts (either within or outside of the organization) and incorporate feedback from those expert readers.
- Collaborate with other Program team members, including being involved in brainstorming meetings, collaboratively writing objectives for each session, and incorporating constructive feedback.
- Stay up to date on current research about teens and best practices in teen education.

- Degree in general education or Jewish education with a focus on curricular development, preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in formal or informal education, including writing and developing curricula
- Experience with programming for adults as well as youth a plus
- Excellent written communication skills
- Creative thinker
- Strong familiarity with online and blended learning methods
- Ability to meet deadlines successfully
- Ability to work independently and at a fast pace
- Understanding of psychological and emotional issues experienced by today’s teens, preferred
- Experience with creating inclusive curriculum informed by a DEIJ and gender lens, preferred
- Previous experience with Moving Traditions’ programs is a plus
COMPENSATION
Compensation at Moving Traditions is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on cost of living where the final candidate resides. The salary range for this role is between $58,000 – $63,000. Benefits package includes paid time off for vacation and Jewish and major national holidays, 100% paid medical benefits for employee including dental/vision, STD/Life insurance, and FSA. In addition, employees that have been with Moving Traditions for at least a year are eligible for paid parental leave and a 401K employer contribution.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The process for the hired applicant will include the following steps:
- Submission of a Resume as well as a Cover Letter.
- Applicants moved forward will have a 15-minute phone screening with a member of the Human Resources team.
- Applicants that move forward from the screening interview will have a first round interview with the Hiring Manager.
- Applicants moved forward will submit a curricular writing sample.
- The final round interview will be with additional members of the Program Team and Senior Leadership Team.
- Three professional references will be requested before the final round of the interview process.
