Group Leader / Youth Worker (After-School Program)

Department: Youth & Family Services
Location: 1504 Macombs Rd, Bronx, NY 10452
Job Type: Part-Time | In-Person

Pay: $17.50 – $21.50 per hour (based on experience and education)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM – 6:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and energetic Group Leaders to support our after-school programs serving students in Kindergarten through 4th grade at Kipp Elements Primary School

Group Leaders work as part of a team to supervise and engage youth in a safe, structured, and fun environment. Responsibilities include leading activities, supporting social-emotional development, and building positive relationships with participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead educational, recreational, and enrichment activities
  • Supervise and actively engage with students at all times
  • Provide homework help and academic support
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Manage group behavior and address conflicts appropriately
  • Escort and monitor students throughout program activities
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Follow all program policies and safety procedures

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or GED required (college coursework preferred)
  • Experience working with children (after-school, camps, or similar settings preferred)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Patient, reliable, and energetic personality
  • Comfortable managing groups of children in an active environment
