Program Director for ESOL Programs

Status: Full-Time, In-person

Reports to: Assistant Director of Support Services

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, Occasional Weekends

Annual Salary: $58,000 – $60,000, commensurate with education and experience

The Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC) is a vital community resource that changes the course of lives of Bronx and Manhattan residents to a degree not otherwise possible. Each year, we serve more than 40,000 preschoolers, school-aged children, teens, adults, and senior citizens through our support, enrichment, education, and recreation programs, expanding their opportunities to live full, productive lives.

Position Summary:
MMCC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of ESOL Programs to lead and oversee English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services. This role is responsible for managing program operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality instruction and support for adult learners. The ideal candidate is an adaptable leader who is committed to helping individuals improve their language skills and access opportunities for growth and integration.

Responsibilities:

● Oversee the planning, implementation, and daily operations of ESOL programs.

● Supervise and support program staff, ensuring quality service delivery and compliance with agency standards.

● Develop individualized education plans by assessing participants’ strengths, interests, and needs.

● Integrate literacy programming to support participants’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development.

● Support participants in building study habits, social skills, and time management skills.

● Monitor participant progress and maintain accurate documentation in the Participant Tracking System (PTS).

● Support recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring consistent engagement and follow-up with participants.

● Ensure compliance with Department for Youth and Community Development (DYCD) requirements.

● Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, or a related field.

● Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in ESOL, adult education, or related services.

● Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required.

● Knowledge of DYCD and Participant Tracking System (PTS) required.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

● Bilingual preferred.
