Basic Craft Laborer Instructor
In-person, Part-time
Reports to: Program Manager and Director of Operations and Compliance
Hourly salary: $60 - $75, commensurate with education and experience
Schedule: 9 - 12 hours per week, schedule may include late afternoons/evenings

Position Summary
The Construction Instructor will lead a 14-week hands-on Basic Construction Craft Laborer training for young adults (ages 17–24) pursuing NCCER certification. The instructor will deliver classroom instruction, demonstrations, and performance-based assessments using NCCER Core Curriculum materials via the Pearson NCCERconnect and COABE platforms.
Key Responsibilities
· Facilitate classroom and hands-on instruction aligned with NCCER Core Curriculum modules.
· Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, and practical labs using NCCER PowerPoints and study modules.
· Manage Pearson NCCERconnect and COABE platforms for online learning and testing.
· Evaluate and document trainee performance through written and practical assessments.
· Maintain a safe, inclusive, and organized learning environment adhering to OSHA standards.
· Provide individualized feedback and tutoring to support skill mastery.
· Model professional conduct, employability, and teamwork.
· Coordinate materials, tools, and classroom setup for each session.
· Collaborate with MMCC workforce staff to track attendance, progress, and employment outcomes.
Qualifications
· 3–5 years of credentialed professional construction or skilled trades experience (carpentry, general construction, or related).
· Prior teaching, mentoring, or training experience preferred.
· NCCER Instructor Certification or eligibility (MMCC will support qualified candidates).
· OSHA-30 certification preferred; classroom management experience, ability to ensure a classroom that is conducive to learning including enforcing classroom rules and expectations.
· Familiarity with NCCERconnect and COABE online platforms a plus.
· Strong communication and organization skills.
· Ensure all youth have access to high-quality, outcome-based education and training opportunities.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
