Position Overview
The Associate Producer plays a central role in bringing Mishkan’s programs, Shabbat services, and large-scale gatherings to life. This role serves as an on-site producer to ensure that events run smoothly, warmly, and with care for both logistics and community experience. The Associate Producer will work closely with the Creative Producer and Director of Programs to strengthen systems that make Mishkan’s programming possible. This includes hiring, training, and coordinating contractors; maintaining clear production timelines and training materials; supporting pack-outs, load-ins, and storage; and helping steward Mishkan HQ as a functional and welcoming space.
This is a part-time position that works 20-25 hours per week with the majority of work occurring from Thursday-Monday with in person events 2-3 times a week. The ideal candidate brings at least three years of professional event or production experience, thrives in collaborative environments, and combines meticulous attention to detail with warmth and ease in public-facing roles.
What You’ll Do:
Act as On-Site Producer for Mishkan Programs, Shabbat Services, and Events (60%)
- Serve onsite as event producer or onsite coordinator for 3 events each weekly, the majority of which occur between Thursday and Monday.
- Produce alternating Friday and Saturday Shabbat services as directed by the Creative Producer.
- Act as onsite logistical lead for Mishkan programs, events, and classes as directed by the Director of Programs.
- Coordinate and execute advance and day-of logistics for offsite Holiday gatherings in August - October (based on the High Holidays and Jewish calendar), with direction from, and in coordination with the Director of Programs.
Support Back End Program & Shabbat Systems (30%)
- In collaboration with the Creative Producer, hire and train contractors including Shabbat Coordinators and Producers, Sound Engineers, and Livestream Camera Operators.
- Develop and maintain training materials for Shabbat Coordinators and Producers.
- Assist the Creative Producer & Director of Programs with program & Shabbat pack outs, load ins, and unpacks.
- Create and send production timelines to Coordinators, Producers and programmatic contractors.
- Attend Thursday afternoon Programs Team Meetings and collaboratively solve problems with Mishkan Staff.
General Operating Support for Mishkan’s Programs Team (10%)
- Assist with facilities initiatives for Mishkan HQ as necessary.
- Assist with maintenance of Shabbat & programs storage and supplies, including ritual items and specialty sound and video equipment.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3+ years of professional event or production experience, including event planning and producing, production management or stage management.
- Experience managing contractors and effectively delegating.
- Meticulous attention to detail and experience maintaining systems.
- Charisma and warmth when working when working public facing events with the Mishkan community.
- Experience working in collaborative environments.
- Ability to lift 45 or more pounds.
- Experience in a customer service facing industry, including hospitality, food service, or other equivalent experience is a plus.

Where You Work:
This position will work 2-3 in person days per week (including required Thursday afternoon meetings) in our office and main programmatic space located at 4001 N. Ravenswood Avenue. Work outside of these commitments is hybrid. Events are held at our office and other locations across the city of Chicago, largely on the North Side.
This position requires work on Jewish holidays including the High Holidays & Shabbatot (Sabbath Services). This position’s regular schedule will be Thursdays - Mondays, with an agreed upon schedule built with the Creative Producer.
