Position Requirements:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or experience in a relevant field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing grantmaking processes, evaluation and impact measurement
• Familiarity with philanthropic and community planning best practices and funding models
• Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data to inform program design and assess impact
• Experience in working with diverse community stakeholders
• Strong relationship building skills and a track record fostering collaboration
• Ability to design and manage volunteer driven processes
Key Areas of Responsibility:
In collaboration with the Director of Community Investment & Impact:
Grantmaking & Funding Strategy
• Manage grantmaking processes, including the RFPs, evaluation panels, awards, and impact metrics
• Manage the communication, application review, and grantmaking process for camp scholarships, ensuring transparency and alignment with community priorities
• Align Federation’s strategic priorities with community impact initiatives, developing and implementing funding structures, and aligning and evaluating “core” (annual and ongoing) and other funding mechanisms based on community priorities Community Impact & Strategic Planning
• Assist in developing strategies to address emerging community needs through qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Monitor trends and best practices in philanthropy, community planning and engagement to enhance Federation initiatives and strategic planning efforts
• Serve as a key listener and connector across the organization and broader community, actively gathering insights to identify emerging needs, priorities, and opportunities
• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and community members to ensure programs and funding strategies are responsive and inclusive
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
Enhance relationships with grantee-partners to deepen understanding of impact
Volunteer Engagement & Capacity Building
• Develop, implement and manage training opportunities for volunteers to effectively participate in Federation allocation and decision-making committees
• Design and optimize volunteer grant-making task forces
• Lead volunteer-driven community impact planning, allocations, and partnerships committees
• Plan, host, and co-facilitate community impact committee meetings
Additional Responsibilities
• Provide technical assistance to grantee-partners as requested to fulfill reporting and evaluation requirements
• Coordinate cross-department Overseas staff meetings to ensure successful communication related to global programs and partnerships
• Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the Jewish community’s needs at the local and national level
• Coordinate special events as needed, such as annual committee orientations, volunteer appreciation events, or guest speakers
Organizational Responsibilities • Some flexibility for evening hours will be needed for committee meetings • Uphold and exemplify the Minneapolis Jewish Federation’s mission/vision • Exemplify customer service both internally and externally • Attend Federation events as position requires
