Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation's Capital is an independent, community Jewish day school that currently offers a dual curriculum of General and Judaic studies for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School, is seeking dynamic, skilled, and creative maternity sub to teach 6th and 8th grade science from April- June and collaborate with a collegial and skilled team of faculty.
Eighth Grade will be studying a unit called “Genes and Molecular Machines.” The focus question for the unit is: How has human understanding of inheritance allowed us to influence change in biodiversity? Students look at cellular reproduction, organism reproduction, and genetics.
Sixth grade will be studying "Ecosystems and Their Interactions. " This unit focuses on biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) components, exploring energy flow, food webs, predation, and how issues like pollution affect systems.
Preference will be given to candidates with deep knowledge of and appreciation for teaching science. A qualified candidate will also possess a strong enthusiasm, deep knowledge of and familiarity with middle and elementary school students, and a sense of humor.
