Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation's Capital is an independent, community Jewish day school that currently offers a dual curriculum of General and Judaic studies for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. The school serves more than 475 students at our Kay and Robert Schattner Center Campuses - the beautiful South Campus for Early Childhood students in Grades PK-1, and the newly renovated and expanded North Campus for Elementary and Middle School students in Grades 2-8.

Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School is searching for a Beast Academy teacher for our Elementary division beginning in January 2026.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Math Teacher to join our team and inspire a love of mathematics in students. This role focuses on teaching grades 3–5 using the Beast Academy curriculum, a program designed by Art of Problem Solving to challenge and engage young learners through problem-solving, critical thinking, and interactive learning.

Beast Academy is a rigorous, comic-based math curriculum for advanced elementary students in grades 3–5. It emphasizes deep understanding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills through engaging stories, puzzles, and activities. Our goal is to nurture curiosity and confidence in math while making learning fun and rewarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspire a love of math in students through dynamic and engaging instruction.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons using Beast Academy materials and other resources that promote active, student-centered learning.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods, including discussions, group activities, and occasional lectures.
  • Support individual student growth by encouraging perseverance and creative problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with math department colleagues on curriculum development and course planning.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and foster a positive classroom environment.
  • Demonstrate organization, dependability, patience, and creativity in all aspects of teaching.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; prior experience teaching Art of Problem Solving or similar programs preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate, motivate, and understand students’ educational and emotional needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, support staff, parents, and the broader school community.
