About Us:
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand new, high-quality special needs preschool into the heart of the community. The mission of the Adler Special Children’s School is to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child receives individualized attention so they can thrive and reach their fullest potential.
What We Are Looking For:
A Physical Therapist who is passionate about fostering children’s development and committed to contributing to the inaugural team of this new center-based program. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing school-based therapy services tailored to the physical and developmental needs of preschool children within a special educational setting. Strong knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques and strategies a must.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct developmental screenings and assessments to determine physical therapy needs for the child.
· Develop and implement individualized therapy plans to enhance gross motor skills, mobility, and participation in educational activities.
· Ensure that services are prescribed appropriately, with an up-to-date physician prescription or authorization for physical therapy, as required by 4410 regulations.
· Focus on gross motor functioning, strength, balance, mobility, and functional independence of the child.
· Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and families to align interventions with student’s goals.
· Provide consultation and coaching to staff and caregivers to support the generalization of skills across environments.
· Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal setting and program planning.
· Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes, attendance records, and reports in compliance with New York State Regulations.
· Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and State/Federal confidentiality regulations.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree, DPT from CAPTE-accredited program.
· Licensed in Physical Therapy in New York State.
· Experience in pediatrics, early intervention, or school-based therapy strongly preferred.
· Knowledge of preschool special education (4410 program) regulations and protocols.
