About Us:

We are excited to announce the opening of a brand new, high-quality special needs preschool into the heart of the community. The mission of the Adler Special Children’s School is to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child receives individualized attention so they can thrive and reach their fullest potential.

We Are Looking for:

A Preschool Curriculum Coordinator who is passionate about fostering children’s development and committed to contributing to the inaugural team of this new center-based program. Candidates should be well versed and able to professionally develop staff in IEP development and execution. Strong knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques and strategies a must. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director to lead the implementation of developmentally appropriate, evidence-based curriculums for our preschool special education program. This role ensures that all instructional materials, teaching strategies, and learning environments meet the diverse needs of young learners with disabilities, while aligning with state standards and best practices in early childhood education.

Responsibilities:

· Lead curriculum planning and implementation for preschool special education classrooms.

· IEP Coordination, training and oversight

· Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administrators to ensure curriculum integration across disciplines.

· Support and mentor teachers to deliver engaging, individualized instruction.

· Train and support teachers in implementing PBS and PBIS frameworks, including proactive strategies, reinforcement systems, and data-driven decision-making to promote positive student behavior.

· Ensure that IEP goals, state standards, and best practices are aligned with lesson plans

· Review lesson plans and provide constructive feedback to ensure fidelity to curriculum goals.

· Conduct regular classroom observations to assess curriculum implementation, instructional quality, and classroom environment.

· Provide immediate, constructive feedback after observations, followed by actionable coaching plans.

· Coordinate with families to support learning continuity between school and home.

· Participate in CPSE (Committee on Preschool Special Education) meetings to provide curriculum input, share student progress data, and collaborate on IEP development and review.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education (required)
  • Valid New York State SBL (School Building Leader) or SDL (School District Leader) certification (required).
  • State certification in Special Education (Birth–Grade 2 or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of preschool special education teaching experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or curriculum coordination experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, CPSE processes, and early childhood special education best practices.
  • Experience with PBS/PBIS implementation preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum and ARIS Curriculum a plus.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
