About Us:
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand new, high-quality special needs preschool into the heart of the community. The mission of the Adler Special Children’s School is to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child receives individualized attention so they can thrive and reach their fullest potential.
What We Are Looking For:
A School Social Worker who is passionate about fostering children’s development and committed to contributing to the inaugural team of this new center-based program. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, resourceful, and collaborative professional who has experience in supporting preschool children with special needs and their families. Strong knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques and strategies a must.
Responsibilities:
· Provide counseling and social-emotional support to preschool children with diverse needs to help them develop skills necessary for peer interactions.
· Conduct family meetings to strengthen school-home partnerships.
· Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administrators to develop and implement IEP goals.
· Facilitate parent workshops and support groups.
· Assist families in accessing community resources and services.
· Provide crisis intervention and mental health support to foster resilience and coping skills.
· Maintain accurate and confidential records documenting services provided, interventions, and outcomes that comply with NASW standards and state regulations.
· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to program planning.
Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
· New York State LMSW or LCSW license.
· A strong understanding of IEP’s, Special Education Laws, and intervention strategies.
· Practices including counseling crisis intervention, family engagement, collaboration with teachers and interdisciplinary team.
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with preschool aged children, specifically in a 4410 Special Education setting.
