Leads and coordinates individual or group adult fitness/physical training sessions for a specified health and fitness program. Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and lead exercise/activity sessions; set up and monitor class equipment; advise participants on procedures and policies; distribute handouts/class evaluations and assist with follow-up; track progress and maintain client files; ensure safety and injury prevention policies are adhered to; report accidents and prepare reports; perform miscellaneous job-related duties. Minimum Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year directly related experience; recognized competency in instructional area; may require technical certification (AFAA, ACE, NETA, NASM, etc.). Higher degrees may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: First aid procedures; strong interpersonal/communication skills; records maintenance; knowledge of fitness training/education methods and techniques; exercise principles and technology; operation/maintenance of fitness equipment and facilities; ability to prepare administrative paperwork; ability to read/understand/follow/enforce safety procedures. Conditions of Employment: CPR Certification within 2 months of hire; discipline-specific licensures/certifications may be required; must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Working Conditions and Physical Effort: Extensive physical activity; strenuous physical work; heavy lifting/pushing/pulling over 50 lbs; minimal exposure to physical risks; moderate exposure to unusual elements (extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, loud noises).
