The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center in Manhattan (MMJCCM) is looking for a Leave Replacement for a Nursery School Associate Teacher to join the Saul and Carole Zabar Nursery School. The Saul and Carol Zabar Nursery School is a Reggio-inspired, Jewish-values-based, child-centered school where students are respected as citizens with powerful ideas and voices. Teachers facilitate learning by working collaboratively with children as researchers, guiding and following the interests of the group.

We are an inclusive school that celebrates the developmental differences of each child. Teachers support each child's learning, their connections with one another, their achievements, and their points of view by making their work visible through many forms of documentation. Teachers partner with families to build a strong classroom and schoolwide community. Our teachers are learners and leaders, whose voices and ideas shape the school around them.

We are seeking a teacher who shares a belief in school community and progressive pedagogy. Reporting to the Nursery School Director, we are looking for an Associate Teacher who shares a belief in school community and progressive pedagogy.

This is a temporary, leave replacement position. The anticipated duration of this position is September 8th, 2026 to January 15th, 2027. The Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center in Manhattan reserves the right to extend, shorten, or otherwise modify the length of this position at any time based on business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working collaboratively with various teaching teams
  • Open to learning about the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy and Jewish values as they pertain to work with children
  • Supporting teaching teams with observation and documentation
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director or Associate Director as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor's Degree (or in progress) in a related field

COMPENSATION

  • This position offers a pay rate of $25,000, paid biweekly over the duration of the assignment.
