Children's Afternoon Class Assistant (Dance)

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (MMJCCM) is seeking an experienced, highly creative, passionate, and reliable Children's After School Class Assistant to assist lead instructors with our after-school dance and theater classes for children ages 4–10 in our Center for Family Life. Candidates should be knowledgeable in a variety of dance styles and techniques, with a commitment to helping children develop their skills, coordination, and love for movement through hands-on, engaging instruction.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with children, a skilled communicator, and able to help create an encouraging and inclusive classroom environment. This position will begin in September 2026.
All applicants must be available on Tuesdays 3:15pm-4:00pm and Wednesdays 3:15pm-5:00pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support students during class by providing individualized assistance that fosters growth, confidence, and enjoyment of dance..
- Prepare the classroom or studio before each session by setting up materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring everything is safe, organized, and ready for use.
- Collaborate with lead instructors to support curriculum implementation and assist with class activities, providing support to both students and instructors as needed.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and organized learning environment in accordance with JCC policies, modeling professionalism and respect for all students.
- Assist with class breakdown, cleanup, and the proper storage of materials and equipment after each session.

REQUIREMENTS
- Prior relevant teaching experience (preferably working with children ages 4-10)
- A background in dance or theater

COMPENSATION
- This position offers a pay rate of $30-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience.
