The MMJCCM is looking for responsible, enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled Nurse. The Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of campers and staff by overseeing all medical services at camp. This position is responsible for providing care to ill or injured campers and staff, administering medications, maintaining accurate medical records, and coordinating with parents and counselors to support a safe and healthy camp environment.
Day Camp @ The JCC is a joyful, Jewish summer camp for children ages 3-10 on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Our staff come from diverse backgrounds and all share the same enthusiasm and motivation for working with children. Counselors are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp experience, and serve as positive role models and team players for campers and staff. This position requires enthusiasm, patience, positivity, and a genuine love of and interest in working with children.
The Day Camp @ The JCC is in session for the following dates:
Leadership Orientation will take place during any 3 evenings between April 2026 and June 2026.
All Staff Orientation: June 9th, 2026 to June 15th, 2026 on a varying schedule.
Camp: June 16th, 2026 to August 14th, 2026 during the hours of 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with organizing and setting up the camp nurse's office
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure all first-aid kits are fully stocked
- Manage camper health forms and maintain accurate records in our online database
- Log daily camper and staff visits in the online medical system
- Receive, store, and administer prescription and over-the-counter medications as required
- Participate in staff orientation and training sessions
- Assess and manage illnesses and injuries efficiently and appropriately as they arise
- Communicate with parents via phone or email when necessary regarding camper health concerns
- Serve as a medical resource for staff, bridging basic first aid and emergency response
- Provide first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, bee stings, dehydration, sunburn, and other minor injuries
- Make sound decisions and take initiative in high-pressure situations
- Demonstrate clear, calm, and effective communication with campers, staff, and families

REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with young children
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to safely manage and administer medications
- Highly organized, responsible, and detail-oriented

COMPENSATION
This position offers a salary of $10,000-$11,000, commensurate with experience.
