Position Title: Camp Nurse

Location: JCH (7802 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn) and Henry Kaufman Campgrounds (1131 Manor Road, Staten Island)

Reports To: Camp Director

Salary: $10,000 for the full-time season.

Seasonal Schedule: Camp Season July 1st– August 23rd, Monday-Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm; pre-camp varying times. This role can either be full-time or part-time. We can work with your availability if part-time is preferred. The salary would be prorated based on the Part-time schedule.

Summary of Job Description:

Reporting to the Camp Director, the Marks JCH Camp Nurse is responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services. This care includes looking after ill or injured campers or staff, administering medication, communication with parents and counselors, organization of medical information, medications and first-aid kits, as well as keeping records of camper visits. Camp Nurse will be staffed all hours of the day from check-in time Monday to check-out time Friday for campers and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain guidelines and regulations set forth by ACA, State of New York and BCNY
  • Manage log of camper medical records, emergency contact information and medications
  • Provide first aid treatment and determine when additional care is required
  • Maintain accurate records of all incidents, treatments and medications; submit all reports within established time frame
  • Maintain health service supplies; ensure first aid kits and health center is stocked
  • Inform parents of incidents involving their child or children and keep the Camp Director informed about incidents concerning staff members and / or campers
  • Help other departments as needed
  • Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings
  • Supervises health and sanitation
  • Handles health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness and provisions for professional health care

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to work all camp dates (July 1-August 23, Monday through Friday, Excluding July 4th)
  • Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s preferred
  • Can be a registered EMT, LPN or RN.
  • Current First Aid / CPR / BLS / NYS certifications
  • Clinical skills, physiological knowledge of medical terms and practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bi-lingual in Russian Preferred
