Camp Barney Medintz Alumni Engagement Coordinator
Part-time
Atlanta, GA, USA
POSITION TITLE: Camp Barney Medintz Alumni Engagement Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Philanthropy
REPORTS TO: Senior Advisor, Philanthropic Initiatives
HOURS: 20 hours per week
The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is among the largest Jewish community centers in the world! The MJCCA is a thriving, dynamic, ever-changing organization where people across all generations participate in programs that help them build relationships, learn new skills, strengthen their Jewish identity, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Camp Barney Medintz Alumni Engagement Coordinator
Camp Barney Medintz (CBM) is seeking a relationship-driven, highly organized, and resourceful alum with an entrepreneurial spirit, to help build and grow an intentional, lifelong alumni engagement program.
As a member of the MJCCA Philanthropy team and in close partnership with Camp Barney Medintz leadership, the Alumni Engagement Coordinator will focus on identifying and reconnecting alumni, strengthening alumni data, creating meaningful communications and engagement opportunities, developing alumni volunteer leadership, and building pathways for ongoing involvement with CBM.
This is a new initiative being built from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be both a builder and a connector—someone who understands the unique culture and lifelong impact of Camp Barney Medintz, has strong relationships within the alumni community, and is excited by the opportunity to help create the structure, systems, relationships, and engagement strategies that will form the foundation of CBM’s alumni program.
A Snapshot of Responsibilities Include:
· Develop and manage a year-round alumni engagement strategy under the guidance of the Senior Advisor, Philanthropic Initiatives.
· Identify and reconnect former campers and staff through existing records, personal and alumni networks, social media, volunteers, and other resources.
· Build, maintain, and continually strengthen the CBM alumni database, including contact information, camp history, relationships, interests, and engagement activity.
· Establish and coordinate consistent alumni communications across email, social media, storytelling, camp updates, milestones, memories, and other platforms.
· Build relationships with alumni across generations to better understand their interests, experiences, and desired connections to CBM.
· Plan and coordinate alumni gatherings, regional events, and other engagement opportunities, including event logistics, registration, attendee tracking, follow-up, and relationship documentation. This will require occasional travel and attendance at events that may take place in the evenings or weekends. For regional events, this may require travel for 2-3 days to various communities.
· Identify, recruit, and support alumni volunteers and leaders who can expand CBM's reach within their communities and networks.
· Work collaboratively with the MJCCA Marketing team on alumni communications, storytelling, digital outreach, and branding initiatives.
· Partner with the Philanthropy team to identify alumni with strong affinity for CBM and help create natural pathways from engagement to charitable support. Major gift cultivation and solicitation will remain the responsibility of others on the Philanthropy team.
· Track alumni participation, communications, event attendance, volunteer involvement, and other engagement measures to evaluate what is working and inform future strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
· Camp Barney Medintz alum with a strong personal connection to CBM and an established network of fellow alumni.
· Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to comfortably engage alumni across generations, geographic regions, and levels of involvement.
· Demonstrated event-planning and event-management experience, including logistics, communication, registration, follow-up, and volunteer coordination.
· Strong proficiency with web-based software and technology platforms, Microsoft Office, databases/CRM systems, spreadsheets, and digital communication tools, with experience maintaining accurate records and managing data. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and timelines simultaneously while working independently.
· Proactive, resourceful, and collaborative, with the ability to build new programs and work effectively with staff, volunteers, alumni, and leadership; experience in alumni engagement, camps, Jewish communal organizations, nonprofits, or related work preferred.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
In the first year, success will mean that CBM has a significantly stronger understanding of who its alumni are and how to reach them, an expanding and increasingly accurate alumni database, consistent alumni communication, successful engagement opportunities, an initial group of committed alumni volunteer leaders, and a clear strategy for continued growth of the alumni program.
The Alumni Engagement Coordinator will help establish baseline measures—including alumni identified, valid contact information collected, communication engagement, event participation, volunteer involvement, and philanthropic participation—so that the program's growth and impact can be measured over time.
