Job Title: MJCCA Summer Leadership Institute Co-SIT Unit Head

Reports To: MJCCA Summer Leadership Institute Director

Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time

This role encompasses a nine-week summer program delivered in three-week sessions, plus additional pre-summer training and planning time.

Job Summary:

MJCCA Day Camps seeks two dynamic leaders to serve as Co-SIT (Staff-in-Training) Unit Heads of the MJCCA Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), a nine-week summer program for rising ninth graders transitioning from campers to future staff members. This program is structured as three separate 3-week sessions and includes dedicated pre-summer training and planning time. As Co-SIT Unit Heads, you will work collaboratively and may divide responsibilities based on your respective strengths to lead, mentor, and prepare SITs for leadership roles at camp.

In partnership with the MJCCA SLI Director and the camp team, you will ensure that all pre-planning work is completed and that program materials, logistics, and training sessions are in place ahead of the summer schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Summer Training & Planning

· Collaborative Pre-Planning: Work closely with the MJCCA SLI Director and the camp team to design and refine the program curriculum, materials, and logistics before the summer sessions begin.

· Pre-Summer Training: Attend and facilitate additional training sessions before the summer dates to ensure both Co-SIT Unit Heads and future SITs are fully prepared.

· Material Preparation: Oversee the development and preparation of all necessary resources and learning session content well before the program launch.

Program Leadership & Facilitation

· Session Facilitation: Co-lead daily meetings and interactive learning sessions during each three-week session, focusing on leadership development, teamwork, and self-reflection.

· Curriculum Implementation: Deliver a dynamic curriculum cultivating a growth mindset, responsibility, and communication skills among SITs.

· Hands-On Mentorship: Guide and mentor SITs as they engage with younger campers, providing ongoing coaching and structured feedback to foster leadership growth.

Coordination & Logistics

· Role Division: Divide responsibilities based on individual skills and background where one co-director may focus more on program facilitation and direct mentorship, while the other may concentrate on logistics, scheduling, and coordination.

· Team Collaboration: Liaise with MJCCA Day Camps staff to coordinate each session's field trips, special programs, and space requirements.

· Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with camp staff, parents, and SITs to ensure the program runs smoothly and meets all participant's needs.

Supervision & Mentorship

· Role-Modeling: Serve as inspiring mentors and role models, encouraging SITs to develop confidence and the skills needed for leadership roles at camp.

· Performance Feedback: Observe SITs in action, providing real-time, constructive feedback to support their personal and professional growth.

· Integration Support: Work in tandem with camp staff to ensure SITs are effectively integrated into the broader camper community and receive the support they need throughout the program.

Qualifications:

· Experience: A strong background working with teens in leadership development, education, or camp settings.

· Facilitation Skills: Proven ability to lead engaging, interactive sessions and mentor youth effectively.

· Collaboration: Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively as part of a leadership team, with strong organizational and communication skills.

· Love of Outdoors: This job will largely take place outside in the Georgia summer.

· Passion: A commitment to youth development, Jewish camping, and leadership training.

· Preferred: Experience with teen leadership curricula (such as youth movement programming, leadership training, or Jewish teen education).
