Company Description: Manhattan Jewish Experience (MJE), founded in 1998 by Rabbi Mark N. Wildes, is a warm, inclusive community for young adults in their 20s and 30s to explore Jewish life and build meaningful connections. MJE offers a wide range of engaging programs for thousands of young Jewish professionals, including Shabbat dinners, holiday events, parties, ski trips, classes, beginner services, and trips to Israel. Role Description The Freelance Photographer will be responsible for capturing high-quality images at MJE events and programs, including holiday celebrations, classes, social gatherings, and special trips. This is a freelance role, and the photographer will work on an as-needed basis, primarily during evenings depending on event schedules. The role is on-site and based in New York, NY, requiring reliable presence at MJE locations and partner venues across the city. Day-to-day tasks include planning shot lists, photographing people and activities in a candid and respectful manner, and ensuring images reflect MJE’s welcoming and vibrant community. The photographer will also edit and deliver photos within agreed timelines, maintain organized digital archives, and collaborate with the marketing team to provide images for social media, web, and promotional materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in photography (preferred) or portfolio (required).
• Strong technical photography skills, including proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, lenses, lighting, and composition.
• Experience in event and portrait photography, with the ability to capture candid moments and dynamic community interactions.
• Proficiency with photo editing and post-production tools (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or equivalent).
• Ability to work on-site in New York, NY, with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and Jewish holidays.
• Professionalism in interacting with diverse participants and staff, with sensitivity to religious and cultural settings.
• Strong organizational skills for managing files, meeting deadlines, and delivering images to specification.
• Portfolio demonstrating prior experience shooting events.
