Summary: This position advances the Mandel Jewish Community Center’s mission and goals by taking responsibility to instruct various fitness classes based on certifications and experience.

• Represent the agency and provide the highest quality of customer service to the individuals and groups with whom you come into contact

Essential Functions:

• Be prepared to instruct selected class 95% of the agreed upon time.
• Assist member with class set up if applicable.
• Monitor and instruct participants during class to ensure a safe and effective workout Monitor sound levels of the music and the microphone during class
• Assist with the organization of the room after class
• Instructors are responsible for class participant behavior and are required to maintain a positive and safe environment
• Schedule subs as needed and inform manager of changes
• Properly utilize all systems for fitness, wellness, and HRIS.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Make sure that all equipment is properly cleaned and replaced to the proper storage locations immediately after class.
• Report any issues with equipment, facility, or members are properly communicated with the Group Fitness Manager or manager on duty.

Qualifications:

• Should have strong working knowledge of the various aspects of fitness including anatomy, kinesiology, and nutrition.
• A national certification such as ACE or AFAA for Group Fitness is required.
• Certifications must be kept current including CPR/First Aid
• Two years teaching experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Instructors must be able to perform all class exercises and provide clear verbal instructions throughout the entirety of the class
• Requires occasional lifting and carrying of equipment up to 45 pounds
