We are seeking a passionate and collaborative educator to build our afterschool sports program and to teach physical education in Preschool through 8th grade. Essential duties include: (1) design and implementation of the Physical Education curriculum with an eye towards differentiated practices that meet the needs of all learners; (2) building an after school athletics program including coordination and coaching; (3) serving as the liaison to the Independent School sports league.

Successful candidates will possess a growth mindset, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, curiosity and openness to new ideas, excellent oral communication skills, and comfort in a school setting where children’s learning and experiences are central to educational decisions.

Athletic Director Responsibilities:

· Oversee coaches of all sports: recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation and feedback, and other supports as necessary

· Provide logistical support for all teams including: scheduling of practices and competitions, reservation of practice and competition facilities, arrangement of transportation to and from, supply of uniforms and equipment.

· Establish and lead an Athletics culture that is an extension of the school’s mission and embodies values of integrity, equality, healthy competition and selfless team participation.

· Maintain clear channels of communication in support of all teams and athletes with various constituencies including, the Head of School, Division heads, Director of Operations, and NYSAIS athletic league leadership

Physical Education Teacher Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement a physical education curriculum for multiple grade levels for children age two through eighth grade

· Collaborate with colleagues across divisions.

· Teach skills in physical fitness and various individual and team sports in line with curricular needs and academic mission

· Effectively demonstrate classroom management skills

· Differentiate instruction and address a range of learning styles

· Keep records of student progress, evaluate students and write narrative comments on progress reports

· Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators as needed regarding social and emotional development of students.

· Possess a growth mindset committed to personal and professional growth and development

· Demonstrate a strong work ethic coupled with the ability to be flexible and adapt.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Physical Education or related field

● Master’s Degree preferred

● Experience working with students with disabilities

● Experience Coaching

● Minimum 2 years of teaching experience

● Strong pedagogical skills

● Strong interpersonal skills

● Strong leadership skills

● A commitment to working collaboratively

Salary range: $65,00-$75,000.
