Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with student needs and educational goals.
• Applies Differentiated Instruction strategies, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the unique learning styles and abilities of each student.
• Implements effective Behavior Management techniques, fostering a positive and productive classroom environment and promoting self-regulation.
• Conducts thorough Student Assessment, monitors progress and uses data to inform instructional decisions and report on student outcomes.
• Engages in active Collaboration with general education teachers, parents, support staff, and administrators to ensure integrated student support.
• Designs engaging and accessible Lesson Plans that address IEP goals and state academic standards.
• Performs Curriculum Adaptation, modifying general education curriculum to make content accessible and relevant for students with disabilities.
• Utilizes Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) principles to create a proactive and supportive school culture.
• Communicates regularly and effectively with parents regarding student progress and development.
• Maintains accurate and confidential student records in compliance with all regulations.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Holds a master's degree in special education.
• Possesses specific endorsements or certifications in areas such as autism, learning disabilities, or emotional disturbance.
• Has experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools
• Possesses a valid NYS teaching certification in Special Education.

Experience

• Demonstrates experience working with students across a range of disabilities.
• Has proven experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Knowledge/Skills

• Possesses a deep understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Applies expertise in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) development, implementation, and review.
• Utilizes a variety of Differentiated Instruction strategies to support diverse learners.
• Employs effective Behavior Management techniques, including proactive and responsive interventions.
• Conducts and interprets various forms of Student Assessment to measure progress and guide instruction.
• Exhibits strong Collaboration and communication skills with all stakeholders.
• Masters Lesson Planning that is engaging, accessible, and aligned with student needs.
• Proficiently performs Curriculum Adaptation to meet individual learning requirements.
• Implements Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) effectively.
• Shows empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to student success.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Works primarily in a classroom environment, which may include moderate noise levels.
• May involve assisting students with mobility, personal care, or specialized equipment.
• Requires visual acuity and hearing to monitor students and classroom activities.
