The Paraprofessional plays a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students. This position provides essential support to teachers and students, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment. You directly contribute to student success by offering individualized assistance, managing classroom dynamics, and supporting instructional activities. Your work ensures that every student receives the attention and resources needed to thrive academically and personally.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direct student support, assisting individuals and small groups with academic tasks, reinforcing lessons, and clarifying instructions.
- Supports effective classroom management by assisting the lead teacher in maintaining an orderly and positive learning atmosphere.
- Implements behavior management strategies and plans, helping students develop self-regulation skills and positive social interactions.
- Utilizes strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and other staff members, conveying information clearly and respectfully.
- Assists students with special education needs, adapting materials and strategies under the guidance of certified teachers to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals.
- Offers instructional assistance by preparing materials, organizing learning centers, and facilitating various classroom activities.
- Demonstrates patience and empathy, creating a supportive and understanding environments for all students, especially those facing challenges.
- Engages in teamwork, collaborating effectively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to achieve common educational objectives.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all student information, records, and personal circumstances, upholding ethical standards.
Experience
- Possesses prior experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, recreational, or care-giving setting.
Knowledge/Skills
- Understands and applies effective student support techniques for diverse learners.
- Applies basic principles of classroom management to support a structured learning environment.
- Implements strategies for positive behavior management.
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age. Have a high school diploma.
- Be capable of physically assisting students with specials needs as required
- Holds a Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent state-specific certification.
- Possesses experience working with students with specific disabilities.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Stands, walks, bends, and lifts up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the workday.
- Works in a dynamic school environment, which may include moderate noise levels.
- Assists students with mobility or personal care needs as required.
