Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Institutional Advancement is a senior member of the school’s leadership team.  Responsible for setting the strategy for and leading the coordination of community, alumni and grant fundraising activities, the Director will work closely with the School’s Marketing/Communications and Admissions personnel to ensure cohesion and common focus.

The Director of IA will also liaise with the Board of Directors, Development Committee, Executive Director and the K-12 Educational Principals to ensure that the school’s mission is positively and professionally reflected in all of the school’s outward facing endeavors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Executive Director to develop, maintain and execute a 5 year plan regarding fundraising and giving.

  • Setting strategy for and coordinating all activities associated with deepening the relationship between the school and its constituent and local communities, alumni, parents and grandparents while expanding and strengthening its donor base.

    • Serving as an outward facing liaison with the school community, while embodying the school’s mission and values.
    • Overseeing Advancement Office operations, including donor files and database, gift accounting and acknowledgment, pledge collection, creation of financial records, media archives, alumni databases, and other records.
    • Supervising IA Office personnel activities, including hiring, definition of role responsibilities, and performance review process for each team member.
    • Planning and implementing a systematic major gift program, including school needs assessment, prospect identification, capital and endowment campaign solicitation, cultivation, stewardship, and recognition.
    • Creating alumni association and providing inputs into parent associations.
    • Working with school team and volunteers to run annual campaign and Gala, including event planning and other logistics.
    • Actively participating in community, fundraising and other school events.
    • Overseeing and expanding the school’s grant writing program.
    • Contributing to the development and implementation of the school’s development, admissions, communications, and marketing budgets.
  • Liaising closely with the Board’s Development Committee to plan meetings, set agendas, assign tasks, and follow up where necessary.

  • Growing participation in Pennsylvania’s state educational tax credit program (EITC)

  • Working closely with the Director of Admissions, to ensure continued excellence in the recruitment, application, and matriculation processes.

  • Working closely with colleagues to identify opportunities to enhance/update admissions materials, website, Social Media and all other communications channels to ensure consistency of fundraising message and tone.

Desired skills and experience include:

  • Vision, creativity, flexibility, and the capacity to execute the school’s strategic plan.
  • Experience with annual giving, capital campaigns, principal and major gift solicitation, planned giving, and special events.
  • Understanding of Modern Orthodox Yeshiva communities and culture, preferably in an out-of-town environment.
  • Personable, positive, helpful personality; customer-centric mindset.
  • Sensitivity, discretion, professionalism, and a sense of humor.
  • A desire to learn and to grow.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as a team leader.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, and adapt to frequent or unexpected changes.
  • Effective administrative experience and the proven ability to motivate others.
  • Strong oral and written communication/presentation skills.
  • Experience in producing online and printed materials.
