POSITION: Adult Services Recreation Program Coordinator

SUPERVISOR: Manager of Recreation

HOURS: Rotating Schedule: primarily Monday-Friday, 10:00-6:00 / one weekend per month and some flex hours

SALARY RANGE: $55,000 - $58,000 annually

STATUS: Full-time / Salary / Exempt

Position Summary

The Adult Service Recreation Program Coordinator will lead the planning, execution, and management of recreational programs and activities for residents in Keshet’s My Life Program. This role is dedicated to enhancing participants’ quality of life by creating opportunities for social interaction, personal growth, and skill development. The coordinator will design and deliver inclusive activities that reflect the interests and needs of the program’s residents. Additionally, the coordinator will evaluate program effectiveness and adapt offerings to meet evolving participant needs. Supporting all aspects of adult recreation programming will be a central focus of this position.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Recreation Manager to design and implement a variety of recreational activities, both virtual and in-person, tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Support the program with Leisure Interest Surveys and implement a registration system to identify My Life residents participating in programming.
  • Schedule and organize recreational events, outings and activities ensuring they are accessible and inclusive.
  • Partner with staff, families, and community organizations to facilitate special events and outings that enrich resident experiences.
  • Lead recreational sessions, including art, sports, games, music and other leisure activities.
  • Work closely with House Managers and QIDP’s to integrate recreational activities into resident’s daily routine.
  • Manage logistics for all programs, including transportation, setup, attendance tracking, and post-program wrap-up.
  • Provide in program direction to staff and volunteers to ensure smooth execution.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining volunteers through outreach, onboarding, and engagement strategies.
  • Address participant behavior concerns as needed and collaborate with relevant professionals to develop solutions.
  • Partner with BCBA’s, Social Workers and all support staff to ensure continuity of programming.
  • Advocate and promote inclusion in all programs.
  • Ensure all recreational activities are conducted in a safe environment
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with families, and residential staff of the resident’s progress and participation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Special Education, or Therapeutic Recreation preferred or 4 years’ experience
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with parents, staff, community partners, and donors
  • Experience planning, running and managing programs
  • DSP certification required, 90-day period after hiring to obtain
  • Knowledge of Judaics
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends and overnights
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and adept at performing multiple tasks at once
  • CPR and First Aid Certificate required
