Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Elementary Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This teacher will create a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young students in our Jewish Day School. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, supports foundational academic skills, and promotes social-emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons in literacy, math, science, and social studies
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
• Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
• Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administration
• Integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences where appropriate
• Maintain classroom organization and positive behavior management practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Valid state teaching certification for elementary grades not necessary
• Knowledge of early childhood development and best teaching practices
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction for varied learning levels
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable classroom

Preferred Skills

• Experience with phonics-based literacy instruction
• Familiarity with formative assessment tools
• Ability to incorporate play-based and inquiry-based learning
• Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset

Work Environment

• Elementary school setting (Kindergarten through early primary grades)
