Position Summary
JVS Career Services is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Director of Student Services to support college students across multiple campuses in the Cincinnati area. This role provides leadership in developing and delivering student support services that help students succeed academically, professionally, and personally throughout their college experience.
The Director of Student Services connects students with valuable resources and opportunities including scholarships, internships, career coaching, networking opportunities, and community engagement events. This position also plays a key role in promoting programs and services through social media, outreach initiatives, and creative marketing strategies. The ideal candidate is passionate about student success, community engagement, and career development, and is comfortable building relationships with students, campus partners, employers, and community organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for JVS Career Services’ student services programs.
- Collaborate with internship providers to gather program feedback and enhance the student experience.
- Engage JVSC staff and leadership as needed to support program success and student outcomes.
- Partner with Hillels, sororities, and fraternities to ensure students are aware of available programs, resources, and opportunities.
- Work closely with JVSC Career Coaches, Onward Israel Program leadership, and the Jewish Federation to ensure students receive career coaching, grants, and answers to program-specific questions.
- Assist students with scholarship and internship applications.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support Student Ambassadors.
- Lead and coordinate the Workum Internship Program and Workum Wednesdays initiatives.
- Partner with Jewish communal agencies and synagogues to facilitate student internship placements, including developing job descriptions, coaching supervisors, and providing ongoing support as needed.
- Connect students with YAD and other young adult engagement opportunities within the Cincinnati Jewish community.
- Collaborate with the scholarship administrator and provide scholarship administration support as needed.
- Provide guidance and career support to students approaching graduation to help them successfully transition into the workforce.
- Provide marketing leadership and social media support for JVSC programs and initiatives.
- Update and maintain the JVSC website and other marketing materials.
- Research and recommend marketing and outreach best practices to support program growth and engagement.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in education, communications, marketing, counseling, nonprofit management, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of professional experience, with knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community engagement practices.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students, employers, campus partners, and community organizations.
- Experience coordinating programs, events, or student engagement initiatives preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, marketing, community outreach, and Canva preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Passion for supporting college students and helping young adults achieve personal and professional success.
- Must have a reliable source of transportation and the ability to travel occasionally between campuses, community partner locations, and events throughout the Cincinnati area.
Reporting structure
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of JVS Career Services. The role is primarily based between the JVS office and UC Hillel, with regular engagement across college campuses and community partner locations throughout the Cincinnati area.
