Communications Specialist
Position Overview
The Communications Specialist demonstrates writing and design strategies to deepen community connections. This candidate will collaborate with the Communications Director to create content that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
About the Organization
Isaac M. Wise Temple, founded in 1842, is Cincinnati’s largest synagogue, serving 1,000 families. The Temple operates in a modern facility in Amberley Village and a historic national landmark synagogue (1866), Plum Street Temple, in downtown Cincinnati. At Wise Temple, we enrich lives through deep relationships, inclusive community, and vibrant Jewish traditions.
Position Responsibilities
The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design
· Create visually compelling graphics and materials using Adobe Suite and Canva.
· Collaborate on print and digital marketing, including flyers and event promotions.
· Maintain consistency with Wise Temple’s branding guidelines.
· Manage the various screens around the building.
Photography/Videography
· Create and edit videos for events, promotional purposes, and storytelling initiatives.
· Work collaboratively to develop ideas for video content.
· Visit large events and programs to capture photos.
· Display a willingness to learn techniques and tools to enhance video and photo quality.
· Support worship service livestreaming and publication of content.
Writing
· Compose articles for newsletters, blogs, and website updates.
· Draft emails and other communications to inform the Wise Temple community.
Social Media
· Create posts for the various Wise Temple channels.
· Monitor the Wise Temple social media accounts.
· Collaborate with the Communications Director on the Wise Temple Podcast.
Requested Education & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Strong communication skills: exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication abilities.
Project management skills: ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Adaptability: a proactive, “out-of-the-box” thinker who can thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Compensation, Start Date, and Hours
Competitive salary and benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, and a 403B.
Employment contingent upon successfully passing a background check. The Communications Specialist role will offer 40 hours/week; hours may vary and include support for worship services as agreed upon. Compensation for this role is $60,000 annually
