JSSA's Hospice program is seeking a qualified, professionally licensed, and board-certified clinical supervisor for our Director of Social Services role. This position is responsible for the overall leadership and organizational development of the psychosocial and spiritual services on the hospice team. This role is also responsible for the effective management of clinical, administrative, and supervisory functions as they relate to personnel and hospice policies and procedures to meet JSSA ’s mission of patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and leads strategies to promote growth and development of the agency.
- Formulates and implements policies related to organizational development and process improvement.
- Promotes, articulates, and models the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
- Promotes decision making at the staff level to promote independence in clinical practice.
- Provides clinical direction to staff.
- Responds appropriately and compassionately to all patient/ family/facility concerns and complaints.
- Leads and promotes cross-departmental collaboration across the agency.
- Oversees and mentors social work, chaplaincy, and bereavement teams.
- Provides clinical supervision as needed to hospice social workers who are working towards advanced licensure.
- Collaborates with the Clinical leadership to ensure consistent provision of services across teams and matters related to psychosocial/spiritual services.
- Continuously formulates, builds, and monitors systems that enhance clinical efficiency to maximize care to patients and families
- Assures that delivery of care is compliant with Federal and State regulations and organizational policies and procedure
- Oversees new hire and annual competencies and evaluations for all direct reports
- Participates in interviewing, hiring and developing new staff, as requested.
- Addresses performance issues in a timely manner utilizing the organization’s progressive discipline policy.
- Assures fiscal responsibility of staff and participates in budget/planning process.
- Assures quality and efficient team operations through leadership in performance improvement, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Participates in QAPI strategies and initiatives to enhance quality of care
Minimum Education, Licensure, and Work Experience Required:
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited program
- Current LCSW-C license in the State of Maryland required
- Board Certified Clinical Supervisor certification required
- Advanced Hospice Social Worker certification (APHSW-C) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years post-Master’s experience in hospice work with increasing clinical, supervisory, and managerial responsibility
- Possesses a comprehensive body of knowledge regarding hospice, bereavement, and end of life care
- Possesses a comprehensive body of knowledge regarding supervision and management
- Demonstrated high level of technical proficiency
