General Summary
JSSA's Dare To Be You Program (DTBY) is a 10-week multi-generation substance use prevention education and support program for families with young children is hiring part-time Infant and Toddler Caregivers to provide childcare to the DTBY infant/toddler group. Each week the program position requires a minimum of 2.5 hours while in session. Works with children 0-2 years of age.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement developmentally appropriate activities for Infants and Toddlers.
- Establish a nurturing, supportive, and stimulating relationship with children through strong communication skills and an individualized approach to each child.
- Assist families in completing applications, pre/post surveys and evaluations.
- Communicate clear guidelines to parents and volunteers.
- Keep supplies and equipment clean, organized, and well maintained.
- Work cooperatively with all parents; accept them as vital partners in the developmental process.
- Attend staff meetings, professional training, workshops and seminars to gain additional knowledge of available resources and skills.
- Serve as a positive role model for other staff, parents, and volunteers.
- Maintain First Aid and Infant/ Child CPR certification.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Required 4 years of experience caring for children ages 0-3.
- Must be able to demonstrate written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish.
- Preferred Early Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience working with zero to five populations.
- Must have an ability to communicate well with parents, community, professionals and deal with a variety of personalities and situations with children, staff and parents.
- Have a working knowledge of a developmentally appropriate curriculum and a problem solving approach.
