Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator
JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.
We are currently looking for a Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team. As a part of the Programs team, you will be responsible for supporting the programs team at JIAS Toronto through the recruitment, screening, orientation, and training of volunteers. The position will also assist with program activity planning and measuring its efficacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To update and maintain marketing and outreach to volunteers
- Conduct volunteer intake which includes responding to inquiries and emails, interview potential volunteers and completing the screening process (references, background checks, etc.)
- Oversee the volunteer training program and ensure supports are in place for a positive, meaningful volunteer experience.
- Respond to and coordinate volunteer matching requests by staff with clients.
- Coordinate and represent JIAS to external stakeholders to promote awareness, engagement & volunteerism
- Measure, monitor, and evaluate program activities according to program plan and ensure all deliverables are met
- Support JIAS Management team on budgets and meet financial and narrative reporting timelines
- Report on metrics for funders and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or Diploma in a related field such as Human Services, Social Service Worker, or equivalent;
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the Settlement sector, not for profit sector, and/or in a social service Agency
- Experience working with youth, seniors, immigrants, and/or Jewish community
- Strong organization, planning, logistics, and execution skills
- Excellent computer skills, include strong Microsoft Office and familiarity with databases (Salesforce preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
- Ability to travel independently around the GTA for programs and events
- Fluency in languages that relate to the agency client base will be considered an asset such as Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Tigrinya, Kurmunji, Turkish, Farsi, Pashto, Ukrainian and Dari
