Mentorship Coordinator
(12 month contract)

JIAS Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the well-being and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.

We are seeking a Mentorship Coordinator who will be responsible for developing and implementing networking and mentorship programs and volunteer matches for newcomers of all backgrounds. In this role you will be responsible for both content and logistics for these programs that include Networking Information Sessions, Speed Mentorship Events, 1:1 Mentorship matches, and the Active Citizenship Fellowship for newcomer leaders. This position is a full time contract position, offering the flexibility to work both remotely and in person at the JIAS offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule group programs in coordination with JIAS Program Team
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinators and Settlement Team on making effective mentorship matches between newcomers and volunteers
  • Coordinate with Settlement Team and Program Team on program development, outreach, and delivery
  • Collaborate with partner agencies on employment-related programs and services for newcomers
  • Maintain client confidentiality and build trust with newcomers and volunteer mentors
  • Provide ongoing support to volunteer mentors
  • Prepare newcomer clients for networking and mentorship events
  • Track and monitor program attendance and volunteer matches in Salesforce database
  • Handle program logistics: room bookings, food orders, speaker invites, outreach to clients for employment-related programs
  • Submit invoices and reimbursements in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in social services or a relevant field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit, charitable sector and volunteerism, particularly within the Jewish Community, is a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in a second language such as Hebrew, Tigrinya, Russian, Persian, or Turkish is an asset.
