JFSA of Cleveland is celebrating its 150th anniversary! We have an immediate opening for the Executive Director of Older Adult Services. This role is full-time, salary commensurate with experience, and office-based.
Job Summary: A member of Executive Management, the Executive Director of Older Adult Services is responsible for developing the strategic vision and operational direction of JFSA Care at Home’s in-home service lines, including program design and implementation, community relations, fiscal management, and supervision of department personnel. The Director of Older Adult Services will establish goals and objectives for the department, including effective communication of department activities/direction internally and representing its interests in the community regarding services to seniors. This individual will contribute essential concepts and program details for grant development by playing a key role in fundraising, marketing, and development of business partnerships for program operations, and ensuring revenue generation.
Key responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for the development and implementation of the strategic vision and plan to expand the JFSA Caring at Home community-based support services.
- Develops and enhances established programs; in addition, responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of new initiatives to enhance all services to seniors, including Survivors of the Holocaust.
- Establishes outcome measures and quality improvement initiatives to provide the highest quality services possible. Identifies opportunities to improve service delivery and secure the needed resources.
- Develops, maintains, and administers all contracts (WRAAA, PASSPORT, private and federal grants, Claims Conference, CARF,) and ensures quality of client records in preparation for all contract audits.
- Serves as a key member of the Agency’s senior management team and represents the Agency to a variety of audiences and constituencies in the community, including community-wide task forces, advisory committees, and other organizations providing assistance to maturing families and individuals.
- Works collaboratively with the Manager of Volunteer Services Program to identify and promote successful volunteer opportunities for community seniors. Cultivates volunteer and donor relationships to strengthen ties to JFSA.
- Serves as a spokesperson for seniors; takes a leadership role and cultivates a strong partnership with the community members and leaders that will result in the development of goals, objectives, and operational plans. Participates in dedications and speaking engagements to help facilitate the integration of JFSA into the fabric of the community.
- Listens to clients, volunteers, donors, and community members to improve services.
- Works as needed with all standing and ad hoc community groups and committees to generate community involvement and ensure community awareness of services to seniors.
- Assesses evolving Holocaust community needs; initiates innovative service delivery solutions to meet these needs.
- Confers with the Department of Marketing and Development to help produce and coordinate production of advertisements and promotions.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of fundraising programs, including grant development, targeted to relevant audiences.
- Directs, coordinates, or participates in activities designed to carry out the objectives of the Agency. Works collaboratively with other JFSA Department Managers to provide information, reports, feedback, etc. regarding existing projects, cross-departmental planning efforts, and coordination of client care to ensure successful accomplishment of organizational goals and high-quality service delivery for clients.
- Develops, monitors, and adjusts all aspects of the budget for which there is responsibility.
- Responsible for coordinating with the Finance Department to ensure accurate and timely reporting and resolution of discrepancies. Provides information and justifications for various budgetary needs.
- Oversees the daily operations of the staff; recruits, interviews, selects, and supervises. Employs the principles of effective performance management on an ongoing basis. Assesses staff development needs and arranges for staff development where gaps exist.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in social work or related field, or equivalent degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years' experience developing, promoting, and managing complex social service or related programs.
- Experience in providing and understanding a continuum of care management services to an older adult population.
- Thorough knowledge of the social service and successful aging needs of older adult community members.
- Proven leader who can develop and successfully implement breakthrough strategies and drive results aligned with the Agency’s mission and revenue goals.
- Solid project management, personnel management, and community/public relations skills and experience.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of public funding streams.10-15 years of management experience at a senior level within a healthcare or social service organization that includes:
- Experience managing diverse funding streams.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Ability to provide strong leadership; communicate vision, promote, and accomplish desired change; take an entrepreneurial approach to service development.
- Must possess budgeting and financial management skills; ability to analyze results and take corrective actions as needed.
- Knowledge of grant development and fundraising strategies
- Knowledge of issues faced by Holocaust survivors preferred; knowledge of, and experience working in Jewish community a plus.
- Knowledge of Medicare requirements and procedures is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Russian culture and language is a plus.
