Job Summary: The Vice President for Development & Communications directs a comprehensive development program to identify, cultivate and secure new donors; enhance community philanthropic partnerships; and ensure the facilitation of gifts from prospective donors, including cash, deferred and testamentary gifts. The Vice President is a member of the Agency’s Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the Development team including all development activities, marketing, communications, grant writing, planned giving and volunteer services. The Vice President works closely with the President and CEO and Board of Directors and Agency Executive Team.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

· Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts through new prospects and current friends of the agency.

· Organize and oversee fundraising efforts, including cultivation of JFSA’s Board of Trustees.

· Coordinate with members of the team on donor relations, donor engagement and gift processing efforts and services. Lead donor relations and engagement efforts.

· Oversee an integrated strategic communications plan to advance JFSA’s brand identity, broaden its programs and increase its visibility in the community.

· Create a marketing and public relations strategy that will allow JFSA leadership to cultivate and enhance external relationships with targeted, high level external audiences within key foundations, governmental entities, etc.

· Oversee development of all JFSA branding, including: print communications, agency websites, social media, publicity, trade shows, media buying, and graphic design.

· Serve as the spokesperson and point person when appropriate on media interactions that promote the organization or identify the appropriate individual within the agency.

· Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting.

· Oversees the daily operations of the staff, and implements the principles of effective performance management on an on-going basis. Manages effectively within a budget.

· Supervises the Manager of Volunteers and works closely to develop the strategy and implementation plan to continue to grow and develop the volunteer program.

Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related degree preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field of study required

10+ years in communications and marketing or equivalent experience.

Experience with project management and strategic planning.

Previous work with non-profit Board Leadership and foundation program officers.

Experience in marketing strategy development and deployment.

Knowledge of the local Jewish philanthropic community.

Experience with individual donor initiatives, event management, and direct mailing campaigns.

Experience in achieving results through subordinates and managing employee performance.

Salary: Commensurate with expereince
