As part of the Resource Development team, the Senior Major Gift Officer advances the mission of Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles by securing major philanthropic support from individual donors. Reporting to the Senior Director of Resource Development, this role manages and grows a major gift portfolio through strategic acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to expand donor engagement and drive revenue growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated and relevant fundraising experience with advanced understanding of prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Record of leadership and accomplishment in securing five and six figure major gifts, including pipeline development, acquisition planning, and solicitation skills.
- Excellent relationship building, and oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to perform under pressure, set and manage priorities, and consistently meet fundraising commitments.
- Exceptional project management, strategic planning, and negotiation skills to optimize fundraising outcomes.
- Advanced CRM expertise, leveraging data analytics to drive decision-making and implement data-driven fundraising strategies.
- Understanding of and passion for JFSLA’s mission and clear commitment to achieving the vision.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in major gift fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Partner with program staff, Board members, and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and advance relationships with new and existing major gift prospects.
- Identify and implement strategies to strengthen, grow and leverage each relationship, including connecting prospects to other donors and the JFSLA community.
- Continually research, develop and maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects to achieve increased engagement and revenue.
- Actively solicit and close gifts at all levels, including major gifts. Cultivate and steward gift transactions through to completion, including working with colleagues on documentation for annual, planned and major gifts.
- Stay current on the JFSLA programs, priorities, and funding opportunities to ensure informed, relevant, and strategic donor engagement.
- Participate in regular portfolio reviews to refine strategy and maximize donor potential, with a focus on growth and high-impact engagement.
- Collaborate with leadership and key internal stakeholders to craft compelling cases for support and develop tailored proposals in partnership that inspire transformational giving.
- Align cross-functionally within Resource Development to create a cohesive donor experience and facilitate major gift upgrades.
- Ensure timely acknowledgment and personalized stewardship for all major donors.
- Utilize CRM and additional tools effectively for timely and accurate data management, ensuring adherence to organizational KPIs for accountability and performance evaluation.
