Older Adult Services Manager

Older Adult Services Manager serves as a change agent for innovation while building and maintaining all operations of the department as it continues to grow its comprehensive services. Responsibilities include (ensuring) collaboration with community stakeholders to expand complex services; compliance with federal and state regulations; providing leadership and oversight of key programs for older adults and for adults with special needs; establishing departmental policies, goals, and impact objectives; personnel management; and budget and grant preparation and monitoring.

Essential Functions

  • Implements and evaluates all older adult services provided by JFS, as well as associated administrative operations and activities.
  • Reviews and maintains program participant protocols and standards, ensuring that all local, state, and federal policies, regulations, and guidelines for participant care are met.
  • Trains, supervises, evaluates and promotes older adult services staff.
  • Ensures equitable access to services and equitable outcomes for all JFS clients. Promotes and ensures successful implementation of all older adult services department-related DEI efforts.
  • Serves as a member of the Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) Committee by reviewing essential service delivery processes.
  • Represents JFS at various community and/or partner agency meetings; promotes existing and new programs.
  • Assists in implementing strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for JFS.
  • Provides training sessions for staff, supervises graduate and/or postgraduate students as needed.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and support of the JFS mission and values.
  • Establishes and communicate goals and expectations, and help employees see how their work matters to clients, the organization, and the community.
  • Monitors performance and productivity and give employees meaningful feedback on a regular basis. Coach staff for improvement as necessary. Communicate appreciation for accomplishments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of JFS personnel policies and procedures as well as a sensitivity to issues addressed by employment law.
  • Communicates and/or clarifies new policies and procedures to staff.
  • Approves time sheets and leave requests.
  • Completes written evaluations.
  • Facilitates timely completion of administrative and clinical documentation.
  • Handles disciplinary actions if needed.
  • Ensures timely completion of Incident Reports.
  • Promotes an emphasis on creating a safe and supportive working environment.
  • Monitors for safety.
  • Seeks opportunities for staff growth and development.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates teamwork and support of the JFS mission and values.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Complies with all company policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate Degree in social work, gerontology or public health required. LCSW preferred.

Work Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in program management and extensive experience in case management required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of resources for older adults in the Greater St. Louis area.
  • Skill in examining programmatic procedures and implementing new strategies.
  • Knowledge of community-based services, best practice standards, evidence-based treatment methods, and outcome measurement.
  • Ability to supervise/train staff and to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, in a diverse community.
  • Ability to handle sensitive budgetary situations, which may have a negative impact on individual employees, groups of employees, and/or clients.
  • Ability to respond to sensitive and confidential client issues.
  • Ability to use general office equipment, computers, and related software programs.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Includes time in other agencies, schools and community locations.

Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. The potential exists for stressful and emotionally charged encounters with clients and/or family members.

Travel

Travel may be required for meetings with individuals and/or groups in other agencies, schools or community locations.
