THE ROLE:
The Accounts Receivable Associate is a key team member of our Finance Department, reporting to
the Finance & Accounting Manager. Primary responsibilities include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable cross-training, maintaining donor profile and account data. This role is a point of entry into the Finance Department with career progression opportunity into an analyst role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounts Receivable
Make weekly bank deposits of funds received.
Record daily JewishColumbus/ Annual Campaign deposits in Foundant and Salesforce (lockbox
(download info), cash, checks, credit cards, stocks, wires and ACH payments), and the deposits
through the bank network.
Run weekly general ledger export from donor database Salesforce into Foundant.
Run monthly receivable reports from Foundant and donor database.
Quarterly prepares and mails donor pledge reminder statements and agency billing statements.
Prepares documentation for write-off process (annually), gathering pertinent information to
review outstanding donor balances.
Prepares and mails donor acknowledgements and tax receipts monthly or annually depending on the gift.
Overall
Assist with annual audit work papers and materials pertaining to accounts receivable, cash, and
other accounts as requested.
Communicates with agencies, vendors, and donors regarding accounts receivable.
Creates and compiles various financial reports, records and general ledger accounts upon request.
Answer financial questions and run reports for JewishColumbus staff members.
Maintain record keeping/document control.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Seeking an individual with a diverse range of experience who enjoys managing complex situations
and has the initiative, skills, and sensitivity needed to manage organizational change and create
systems that increase organizational efficiency while supporting our culture and values.
At least 3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field
Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices)
Proficient with Microsoft, Word, Outlook, Teams and advanced knowledge of Excel
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work well in a team environment and interact professionally with colleagues
Dependable with a high attention to detail & accuracy
Ability to handle multiple tasks with good organizational skills
Deadline driven, time management ability
Possesses strong, professional verbal and written communication skills
Exhibits behavior focused on customer service
Possess integrity for maintaining confidential information

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Working knowledge of Salesforce
Non-Profit accounting experience a plus
Experience using databases
Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or Foundant
Salary range: $60,000 to $64,000 based on experience
