ABOUT JWI

Jewish Women International is the leading Jewish organization working to combat gender-based violence, build pathways to economic security, and promote women’s leadership. JWI is a steering committee member of the National Task Force on Sexual and Domestic Violence, convenes the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse, leads the Clergy Task Force on Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community, facilitates training for the field, leads youth-centric prevention programs, and develops financial empowerment resources. JWI works collaboratively with national and local organizations to amplify our collective impact.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT

JWI addresses the cycle of violence against women and girls through three pillars of work: gender-based violence, economic security, and women’s leadership. When women can live in safe homes and healthy relationships; when we have control over our finances; and when we have women leaders supporting each other and building workplaces that are safe and equitable, we will live in a world where women may thrive.

Now in our 125th year, JWI is uniquely poised for growth. Responding to our needs assessment of Jewish domestic violence programs and survivors, JWI has launched the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence in the Jewish Community; the Collaborative of Jewish Domestic Violence Programs; and the Women’s Financial Empowerment Institute.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sr. Director of Community Response position is being created to address the unmet needs of survivors of domestic violence as identified in JWI’s 2021 Needs Assessment report. These include a lack of survivor-centric Jewish communal spaces, gaps around long-term economic security, and support for the domestic violence programs serving Jewish survivors. To address these gaps, JWI is: 1) working with local domestic violence programs and Jewish organizations to develop survivor-centric communities; 2) providing training and consultation to cohorts of Jewish Community Centers; 3) providing support to the community of providers; 4) delivering financial literacy, job skills and entrepreneurial training for survivors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • This position will oversee and be responsible for the implementation and expansion of “Here for You” and “The Collaborative of Jewish Domestic Violence Programs.”
  • Establishing, motivating, and guiding cohort communities to develop ongoing survivor-centric practices, policies, and programs through Jewish Coordinated Community Response Teams.
  • Assisting with advocacy on relevant legislation.
  • Seeking opportunities to bring additional JWI programs to communities.

This leadership position is an exciting opportunity to build a movement that supports marginalized survivors and their children. JWI hopes this work will be a model for advocates in other faith communities.

QUALIFICATIONS

JWI recognizes that far too often women, trans, and non-binary people, as well as other structurally marginalized groups apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. If the work and possibilities described above excite you, we encourage you to apply.

The successful candidate will be a change-maker who thinks strategically and has deep experience with community organizing within the American Jewish community. This position reports to JWI’s Chief Program Officer.

COMPENSATION

Salary is $81,000-$99,000/year commensurate with experience.

JWI offers a competitive benefits package, and a fast paced, purpose-driven, and collaborative and supportive work environment.
