About the position
The Part-Time Administrative Assistant provides essential support to ensure the efficient operation of the JRC office. They are responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, supporting staff, and helping to maintain smooth day-to-day organizational functions. Reports to the Director of Operations and may take direction from other JRC senior staff. This is a 20-hour/week position, Tuesdays-Fridays, generally five hours per day.

JRC, one of the Reconstructionist movement’s largest congregations with about 430 households, sits on the border of Evanston and Chicago, creating a special mix of suburban and city culture. Our members represent a beautiful diversity of Jewish observance, gender and sexual identity, race, and interfaith families. We are a hands-on, highly collaborative congregation with members leading many aspects of community life with our dynamic staff and clergy.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this part-time, non-exempt position is $26,000-$30,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time off and paid holidays.

Essential Functions

  • Assist our staff team with administrative needs, including answering door and phone, checking voicemail, engaging with members and helping to take care of their needs and requests
  • Assist with member administrative management
  • Help with program set-up and holiday administrative needs
  • Help to write, track, and send thank you and acknowledgement letters for donations
  • Assist with Kehillah (School) enrollment and administration including attendance support, ordering supplies and materials, physical set up of activities, and helping to maintain supply-room
  • Create Sign Up Genius and Google Forms, set up Zoom meetings, and maintain Constant Contact lists
  • Help with Calendar management (Ritual, Clergy, Program, School, and Administrative)
  • Create signs and print other materials
  • Track and maintain supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

About you
We’re a nimble team with diverse skills to serve our close-knit, warm, relaxed congregation. The best fit for this role is someone with previous administrative experience; synagogue administration with ShulCloud knowledge is a bonus! You have keen attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. You can work independently and proactively, though you enjoy collaborating on a small team. You’re able to manage multiple priorities and you’re comfortable interacting with staff, leadership, and JRC members. You’re a good oral and written communicator and you enjoy problem-solving. You are tech-savvy and are a pro at Microsoft Office software. And you’re excited to learn about and respect cultural traditions, including those of Judaism.
