Position Overview
Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) is seeking an experienced Vice President of Development to expand and strengthen its fundraising efforts across North America, ensuring the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization.
This senior role will be responsible for driving significant philanthropic revenue, cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and legacy organizations, and developing strategic fundraising initiatives in close partnership with organizational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Major Gift Fundraising: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners to secure major gifts (typically $50,000+).
- Donor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, personalized donor relationships through regular communication, in-person and virtual meetings, and thoughtful stewardship. Manage an active portfolio of approximately 100–150 prospects.
- Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns: Lead and execute fundraising initiatives, including special events, targeted campaigns, and digital engagement strategies to broaden and deepen the donor base.
- Development Communications: Partner with the Content team to craft compelling proposals, pitch materials, and case-for-support messaging that clearly communicates JNS’s mission, impact, and growth vision.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, board members, and internal teams to align development efforts with organizational priorities. Provide mentorship and guidance to development staff as needed.
- CRM & Performance Management: Utilize fundraising and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Outreach.io) to ensure accurate donor tracking, pipeline management, and reporting against revenue goals and key metrics.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with a demonstrated record of securing major gifts and achieving ambitious revenue targets.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strategic thinking, strong relationship-building ability, and high intercultural awareness.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of donor stewardship, fundraising best practices, current philanthropy trends, and regulatory compliance.
