Role Overview:
Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, is seeking a temporary HR Recruiter to join our team as maternity leave cover for a 7-month period. This hybrid role is based in our Jerusalem office, with at least two in-office day per week.
The HR Recruiter will play a key role in supporting our team across Israel and the U.S. by managing recruitment, onboarding, employee administration, and assisting with monthly bookkeeping processes. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that requires discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced media organization.
Position Level: This is a temporary, mid-level role reporting to the COO.
What You'll Do:
- Employee Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment process including posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and handling onboarding paperwork—primarily in English.
- Freelancer Onboarding & Administration: Oversee onboarding processes for freelance staff in Israel and the U.S., including documentation and tracking.
- Bookkeeping & Attendance Support: Assist with monthly HR-related bookkeeping tasks, including reviewing employee attendance, collecting reimbursements, invoices, and managing monthly freelancer payments.
- Employee Administration: Handle day-to-day employee documentation, updates, and HR records (employee handbooks, maintain staff lists and positions, organizational chart)
- Office operations and administration: Handling vendors, office maintenance, etc.
- Additional Responsibilities: Support end-of-year performance review processes, help plan internal staff events, and contribute to other HR initiatives as needed.
What You Bring:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar HR or recruitment role (Israel/US), with a strong track record handling administrative issues
- Background in bookkeeping and office management (advantage)
- Native English speaker (knowledge of Hebrew is an advantage)
- Personable and professional demeanor, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent follow-through and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience using HRIS tools (e.g., BambooHR) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Google Suite, Slack, and Monday.com.
