Role Overview:

Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to drive the development and execution of innovative strategies that will expand our reach, strengthen our brand, and fuel sustainable growth. JNS is rapidly expanding, with 40+ full-time staff across the US and Israel, and growing its news coverage in multiple languages.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will lead and execute JNS’ marketing strategy to grow readership, increase reader and donor engagement, and strengthen the organization’s brand and influence. This role oversees all aspects of marketing, including audience growth, brand positioning, digital strategy, content distribution, community development and communications. The ideal candidate is a data-driven, strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the digital media landscape, a passion for high-quality journalism, and a proven ability to lead a team to grow and engage audiences in a competitive news environment.

The CMO will lead a cross-functional marketing team, overseeing strategy, media, creative, and operations across brand, growth, and product marketing. This role is responsible for driving ambitious growth, and developing successful campaigns and initiatives from concept to execution, with the goal of increasing readers, viewers and subscribers exponentially.

In addition to managing all B2B and B2C marketing operations, the CMO will create and implement strategies to grow website traffic, social media following and engagement, expand syndication reach, and maximize third-party and reader-generated revenue. This role will also focus on expanding into new markets and increasing JNS’ influence within the Jewish community. The ideal candidate has initiative, creativity, and strong communication skills, along with proven experience leading and building teams, delivering results in a fast-paced environment, and a deep understanding of the pro-Israel media landscape.

Position Level: This is a senior-level role reporting to the CEO and COO, working closely with them to implement growth strategies and position JNS as the leading English-language Jewish media platform worldwide.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and oversee JNS's overall marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving audience growth, donor engagement, and revenue expansion.
  • Team Management: Lead, manage, and grow a marketing team (currently 7 staff) to high performance, fostering collaboration, professional development, and accountability to achieve organizational goals.
  • Website Traffic and Engagement: Implement SEO, paid media, and audience retention strategies to drive site traffic, increase repeat visitors, and convert readers into subscribers and donors.
  • Revenue Growth & Partnerships: Identify and execute syndication, advertising, and partnership opportunities that grow JNS’ audience, increase donor engagement, and maximize revenue streams.
  • Email Marketing and Membership Growth: Expand email sign-ups, optimize newsletter strategies for engagement and open rates, and oversee membership program initiatives, including premium and tiered access strategies to boost subscriber conversions.
  • Social Media and Video Content: Elevate JNS TV and multimedia initiatives, promoting video, podcast, and webinar content while driving growth and engagement across social media platforms.
  • Campaigns and Events: Plan and execute high-impact marketing campaigns, conferences, missions, and events that align with JNS’ growth objectives and drive audience and donor engagement.
  • Communications and Branding: Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to engage diverse audiences, reinforce JNS’ brand positioning, and oversee production of branded materials and promotional assets.
  • Performance and Budget Oversight: Oversee the marketing budget, track KPIs, and analyze campaign performance to ensure efficient allocation of resources and continuous optimization of growth strategies.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B and B2C marketing or related functions, preferably within a fast-paced news/media organization. Expertise across paid and organic digital marketing, email marketing, partnerships, and offline channels.
  • 5+ years in a leadership capacity, with experience building and managing high-performing marketing teams. Proven ability to develop and execute growth strategies that scale across multiple platforms and teams with demonstrated results
  • English mother tongue. Strong Hebrew.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and make data-driven decisions to maximize growth investments
  • Extensive experience with acquisition funnels, marketing tech stacks, data pipelines, and A/B testing to optimize marketing efforts.
  • Passion for JNS: Deep understanding of JNS' mission, the pro-Israel media landscape, and US/global pro-Israel and Jewish organizations, with a strong interest in Israel, the Middle East, and current events
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey strategic insights, results, and recommendations to senior leadership, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead groups, be decisive, work collaboratively across teams, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive aligned, efficient execution of growth initiatives.

  • Ability to recognize and stay ahead of trends, particularly through the implementation of AI tools.
