What You Will Own:

Accounts Payables and Receivables

Database Entry, Reporting & Management

Budget compliance

Program/event reporting

Facilities & IT oversight

Fund accounting

General Ledger entries and reconciliations

General Organization Support, as assigned.

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets.

Work within the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Oversee, prepare and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable individual accounts and ledgers.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts; analyze variances and report findings to management.

Support the Controller in coordinating audits, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax reporting requirements (e.g., 990, 1099s, COI’s, tax receipts).

Help implement and improve accounting systems and procedures.

Train, mentor, and assist staff, with finance related tasks, as needed.

Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and financial analysis as assigned.

All other tasks assigned to promote the goals and mission of the organization.

What You Have Accomplished:

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Proficiency in accounting and accounts payable software platforms. Sage software experience a plus.

Experience in non-profit accounting a plus.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Mastery of accounting fundamentals.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex accounting challenges to accommodate the unique needs of Staff and Lay Leadership.

High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Mastery of MS Office suite of programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, One Drive and SharePoint and general office equipment such as a printer, scanner, fax, postage meter, switchboard, and copier.

Data entry and strong attention to detail.

Ability to represent Jewish Nevada effectively in various settings and with diverse communities.

Strong knowledge (or willingness to learn) of the Jewish community and Jewish culture preferred.

Previous experience with fundraising and/or accounting databases.

Understanding the complexity of the volunteer/professional relationship and success in managing those relationships effectively and professionally.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good judgment and the highest level of integrity.

Able to problem-solve and manage complex and sensitive issues with tact and great skill.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to perform push/pull movements and to lift 10- 50 lbs.
